Catherine’s artistic vision is drawn from the rich heritage, local dialect and childhood memories growing up in the English county of Lancashire. Her defined colour palette is inspired and defined by the Red Rose of Lancashire providing the basis for all of her art. Since her earliest memory Catherine has been surrounded by tales and anecdotes from the weaving sheds; passed down from when her family once owned and worked in the cotton mills. Each of the smaller, more personal artworks are focussed on memories of her childhood home and her Mum’s home baking.

Catherine is a self-taught embroiderer. Her contemporary textile art is hand stitched onto vintage cotton sourced from a curated collection of cloth comprising of fabric that belonged to her Great Grandmother and to a family friend – Arnold Papworth - who’s family worked in the Mills.

Catherine is multi award-winning artist. Her art has been exhibited across the UK and recently in Australia. Since March 2020 (due to COVID-19 restrictions) her work has appeared in on-line exhibitions. She has a blog called ‘Arnold’s Attic’ where she writes under the name of Katie. https://www.arnolds-attic.co.uk/blog
