'The inspiration for this piece came from the 3 different Coronavirus lockdowns within the UK and the range of emotions and feelings I felt as they happened. This piece visually represents and documents the impact of these lockdowns and I have shown this through the different aspects of my painting, through my colour choice, warm yellows to show my positivity and 'contentness' at the start fading into warm reds and then to darker shades of red for the anger and frustration, through to cool blues representing more negative and chaotic feelings, then they get slightly paler and brighter to show the slight hope I have for the future and what it will bring; the shape of the canvases, becoming more abstract and irregular in shape as they go on; and the choice of marks made, starting with more gestural minimal marks through to more busy and expressive ones showing how much more confusing and chaotic it felt.'
